Bee hive knocked over!

I looked out my window and saw my bee hive knocked over! I ran out but it was too late. All the bees were dead. I have no idea what knocked it over, there were no animal tracks or prints on the hive. It was not windy out. There had been times when it was very windy and it stayed up fine. So I don't know what happened. Now I have to start all over this Spring. I'm trying to figure out how to keep it from falling over again. Any ideas out there?

Hi Jean Marie
Thinking superstitously, Id say the gods dont want the hive in that spot, maybe you can find a more productive location. Or drive a few stakes into the ground and place it in between them.

Regarding living off your pantry and calculating how long you have, the only thing I can think of is by creating meals in your head. one chicken and 4 jars is a meal for the 6 of you, and so on.

Thanks! We thought about putting snow fence stakes in the ground, but I'm wondering how to lift the boxes in and out. It sounds like it might work.

Thanks for the blog on self reliant living, it was very helpful!

Thank you John for the recommendation! And thank you Jean Marie for visiting. It's always nice to know that something you have to say is useful to some else.
