~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Is a self-sufficient life possible? Hello, My name is Jean Marie. I live in a small western Ny town in the country. I am married with 4 children. I have a small farm with about 40 chickens, 50 fruit trees, some nut trees, large veggie gardens, assorted fruits, and a bee hive. I would like to have discusions with others on how to become self-sufficient, how much self-sufficiency can be achieved in this world, and how to live off the land.
Dear Jean Marie - I HAVE to recommend goats! They are cheaper to keep, easier to work with, less messy, and the milk is rich and more consumable. Cow's milk often causes allergies and should never be given to babies and small children. Please read my Jan 24th article. You would LOVE goats! :-)
My children refuse to drink goat's milk even though they have never had it! This is why I'm looking into the mini cows. My children are all older and can have the cow's milk.
